seriesofbaddecisions: (disappointed)

Room 210- Wednesday afternoon

Sabine didn't talk about home much, so it'd probably be easy to think she didn't get homesick. But she'd been stuck here since May, she'd been bored and restless for months, and she didn't actually think she'd be getting to any version of home anytime soon, and it was getting to her.

Every once in a while she checked the Portalocity app to see if her universe was on there yet. She did it less these days, because it got disappointing when it wasn't. She didn't even have anywhere to really go if she could go back, but she'd like to know it was an option. So today was a day to pull up the app on her phone and check.

And nothing. Still. Fine.

Rather than being upset about it, she put her phone down and started laying down the tarps in the room. Months ago she'd painted her desk a bright pink, and then left it unfinished, because she'd turned into a bird and it had felt a little bit cursed ever since. She'd been in a similar mood when she started that project, though, and today she wanted to finish it, and if she turned into a bird again then at least she'd have a different problem for a few days.

Spoiler: she wasn't turning into a bird today. But she would work the motif into the desk once she'd finished the pink.

All the more reason to get rid of it! What kind of roommate would she be, letting strange birds sleep on Sabine's bed?

On Sabine's bed.

"No," Astrid agreed, "I don't think I would, either. And that probably would have made things even more awkward once you turned back."

"We'll keep a birdcage around," said Astrid. One they could decorate. Of course. "So if you're here, and you've turned into a bird again, I'll take you down there myself."

With the whitewash ready, she started in on smearing it on the walls. "I wonder if I'll ever turn into an animal," she mused. "Or what I'd even be. It's hard to even think about something like that, though. It had to just have been...strange."

"Only thing I've gotten, other than the gremlin bite," which didn't count because Astrid was still herself, she just didn't realize it, "was that weekend I was a kid, but that was clearly a lot of other people, too, almost like a mass hallucination. That was pretty weird. But how much weirder could it get?"

Adorable. They were both just so. Adorable.
